About Lucky Dog Rescue Bali

Lucky Dog Rescue was founded out of an extreme need.

"The many hundreds of dogs roaming Bali’s beaches and streets are unfed and have no access to clean water. Many suffer from life-threatening blood infections and skin conditions. Most of them have been abandoned by their owners to fend for themselves and to survive in whatever way they can. These dogs — even newborn puppies — have been abandoned  with complete indifference to whether they will live or die.

When Claudia the founder of Lucky Dog Rescue Bali, saw these conditions, it was impossible for her to ignore such cruelty and injustice. Lucky Dog Rescue was born shortly thereafter.

Claudia remembers a time in the not so distant past when Bali dogs were treated even more horribly than they are now. Only a few years ago it was a common occurrence to find the bloated bodies of dead dogs when walking on the beach; dogs that had been poisoned or set afire or whose legs were wired together and tortured for “fun.” These horrible atrocities are what Claudia and her team are fighting against every single day.

For the past nine years, Claudia has chosen to dedicate her life to helping the hundreds of abandoned, neglected, unwanted, malnourished, sick and injured Bali dogs. The Lucky Dog Rescue team spends many hours each day at various veterinary clinics caring for the dogs that she’s rescued.

Sterilization is the solution to an abundance of unwanted dogs on the island. Therefore, every dog that Lucky Dog rescues is sterilized by one of the licensed veterinarians who work in the Lucky Dog Rescue Bali clinic.

Claudia lives by the words made famous by the Dalai Lama, a quote that can be applied to both dogs and people; a mindset for how we should think and behave at all times: "Be kind when possible. It is always possible."
